PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FM character multiplex broadcasting receiver becoming most effective in case of an emergency disaster by using an information display unit for character information with power consumption much less than that in backlighting and giving the information display unit excellent viewability by sideward lighting. SOLUTION: Manufactured is the FM character multiplex broadcasting receiver having: an antenna; an FM tuner unit; an FM multiplex signal decoder which demodulates program data of an FM character multiplex broadcasting included in a signal received by the antenna; a storage unit which stores the program data of the FM character multiplex broadcasting; and an information display unit of an electrophoresis type display panel displaying the program data of the FM character multiplex broadcasting.
