PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of presenting, to a user, the summary of video contents and details of a certain portion in the video contents without using a preview dedicated display area. SOLUTION: When (simple) playback (preview playback) of an arbitrary section in video content data is requested by a user, a preview processing section 403 executes preview playback of moving image data included in the video content data from the requested section. In such a case, an image display position on a thumbnail display area wherein a thumbnail image extracted from the playback requested section is displayed, is specified and on the specified image display position, preview playback of the moving image data in the playback requested section is carried out.
