PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulky coated paper having a white-paper glossiness of 20-50%, and nevertheless, having high smoothness. SOLUTION: The coated paper has a coating layer composed mainly of a pigment and an adhesive and applied to base paper. The coated paper has a density of 0.90-1.10 g/cm<SP>3</SP>measured in conformity to JIS P 8118, a Bekk smoothness of 300-900 sec measured in conformity to JIS P 8119, and a white-paper glossiness of 20-50% measured in conformity to JIS P 8142, and not less than 95% (mass basis) of the pigment is kaolin clay and ground calcium carbonate.
