PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature responsive surface member which can exhibit hydrophilic/hydrophobic change by temperature and is excellent in durability, particularly, in wear resistance, and a manufacturing method of temperature responsive surface member, capable of easily manufacturing a temperature responsive surface member excellent in durability which can maintain a hydrophilic/hydrophobic change effect by temperature. SOLUTION: The temperature responsive surface member comprises a polymer layer including an amido group-containing polymer having a phase transfer temperature ranging from 20 to 50°C, the polymer layer being formed on a polymerization initiatable substrate, chemically bonded with the substrate, and derived from a compound containing an amido group and a polymerizable group in the molecule. As an amido group-containing monomer which constitutes the compound and can give temperature responsiveness to the generated polymer, N-isopropyl acrylamide is preferred. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
