<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation substrate having optical compensation ability capable of dissolving a problem of retardation produced when performing a multi-color display by using a liquid crystal display device, and to provide a method of manufacturing the retardation substrate easily with high quality. <P>SOLUTION: The retardation substrate includes at least a substrate and a fixed liquid crystal layer disposed on the substrate, wherein the fixed liquid crystal layer has optical anisotropy and is disposed so as to have different birefringence every a plurality of areas, due to the different degree of alignment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
