<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for forming a curved thermoplastic composite part from a linear material laminate or its spool. <P>SOLUTION: The process for forming the curved thermoplastic composite part includes: a process 802 for feeding a linear thermoplastic material of predetermined length; a process 804 for pre-forming the linear thermoplastic material to a chosen cross-sectional shape; a pressing process 806 for applying heat and pressure to the pre-formed thermoplastic material; and a bending process 808 for passing the pressed thermoplastic material through a curved section to optionally impart a desired length and desired radius of curvature to the thermoplastic material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
