<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instruction compartment detection device for making it unnecessary to arrange device configurations for detection in an instruction object area. <P>SOLUTION: An instruction compartment detection device for detecting a prescribed compartment in an instruction object area 50 to be pointed by the finger or hand of a person is provided with a plurality of pyroelectric infrared sensors S11 to S15 arranged so that each detection area can be partially overlapped and an information processing means for processing signals to be output from the plurality of phyroelectric infrared sensors S11 to S15.
