PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit of an air conditioner displaying an operating state of the air conditioner directly on an openable and closable design panel, and having high visibility of display and high quality in design. SOLUTION: This indoor unit of the air conditioner comprises a design panel 2 openably and closably or detachably mounted on a front face of an unit body 1, and a display device 7 disposed at a front side of the unit body, the display device comprises a printed sheet 12 on which the display is printed, a board holder 13 which is provided with a plurality of sectioned light projection windows for inserting display elements, and to which the printed sheet is attached at its tip face, and a display board 14 provided with the display elements, is fixed at its rear portion, and a base member 15 for locking the board holder in a state that it is energized forward through a spring 20, and the board holder is pressed to be mostly closely kept into contact with a back face of the design panel by the spring through the printed sheet.
