PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner with enhanced workability. SOLUTION: A floor brush 6 is connected rotatably around the main body rotary supporting point a to the lower part of the vacuum cleaner main body 2 of a vertically longitudinal shape. The lower end side of the supporting member 17 of the link part 9 is pivoted rotatably on the floor brush 6 behind the main body rotary supporting point a. The upper end side of the supporting member 18 of the link part 9 is pivoted rotatably on the vacuum cleaner main body 2. A safety wheel 19 is mounted at the connection part of the supporting members 17 and 18. When the vacuum cleaner main body 2 is tilted against the floor brush 6, the link apparatus L is activated in response to the tilt and the safety wheel 19 mounted on the connection part of the supporting members 17 and 18 projects so that it would contact the floor surface F to support the vacuum cleaner main body 2.
