The holding device has screws (12,14) which are passed through a passage opening (16) of a component such as chassis member (18). A position securing element is provided which is connected with the component in a detachable manner. The position securing element locks the screws against twisting. The position securing element is formed as a threaded plate (28) with another passage opening (30). The passage opening has an internal thread complementary to a thread of the screws. An independent claim is included for a method for mounting an attachment, particularly a tank console of the component of a motor vehicle, particularly a chassis member of a truck.
