The invention provides a coating composition for cars which can properly prevent the damage by iron powder, sand, or dust and which is easy of application. The invention relates to a coating composition for cars which contains both a photocurable component and a photoreaction initiator and which can form a cured coating film capable of protecting the coated surface of a car body when applied to the coated surface and cured with ultraviolet rays with the proviso that the pencil hardness of the cured coating film is 2H or above. The coating composition can give a cured coating film having such hardness and film thickness as to prevent the damage by iron powder, sand, or dust. The coating composition can be applied in a shorter time than those of conventional ones.
