[Class 103 (i)] A vehicle hydraulic braking system comprises a valve responsive to deceleration of the vehicle and which automatically cuts off the supply of liquid to the rear wheel brakes when the rate of deceleration reaches a predetermined value. The valve comprises a cylindrical member 26 sliding on ribs 25 in a casing 18 inclined so that its foward end is higher and thus the valve member 19 normally rests against an adjustable stop 30. On excessive braking the momentum of the valve member 26 drives it up the incline and causes a rubber valve 28 to be seated on a seat 24 and close the connection between the master cylinder 10 and the rear wheel brakes 15. A modification is shown comprising a ball valve.</p> |
