A filter unit 1 e.g. carbon dioxide scrubber, for a closed breathing circuit, comprising a housing 2 defining a cavity 2', an inlet port 6 in communication with a first region of the cavity 2', and an outlet port 7 in communication with a second region of the cavity 2'. The housing 2 is arranged to accommodate a removable filter cartridge 9 in the cavity 2' such that filter 9 lies in a path of air between the inlet port 6 and the outlet port 7. The housing comprises opening and closing means 4 i.e. a lid, arranged to allow the removable filter cartridge 9 to be removed from and inserted into the cavity 2'. |
