A method for providing a searching function in a mobile phone and a mobile phone therefor are provided to enable a user to read a file that a user has searched anytime by registering a searching condition setup by a user as a menu. A mobile communication terminal(10) includes a controller(200), a display unit(300), a key input unit(400), an RF unit(500), a voice processing unit(600), a speaker(700) and a microphone(800). At least one searching menu and a searching condition corresponding to each searching menu are stored. The controller provides a user interface for making a searching condition. In addition, the controller registers, as a new menu, the searching condition which is made through the user interface.
