<p>The valve has a drill (14) movably arranged in an axial direction in a tap neck. Heating channels are provided for closing a gap formed between two layers of a tapped multi-layered pipeline (12) in an area of a cut surface of the multi-layered pipeline by tapping, where the layers are limited to each other. The multi-layered pipeline includes a layer made of plastic. The heating channels are arranged in the area of the drill to heat and melt the plastic of the multi-layered pipeline within the area of the cut surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for attaching a branch line to a pipeline by a tapping stop valve.</p>
