An apparatus and a method for audio output in a digital media broadcasting system are provided to listen to a plurality of broadcast audio through one ear phone or a head phone when watching a digital media broadcast in a PIP(Picture-In-Picture) mode. Image information and audio information separated from an image channel separation unit(100) and an audio channel separation unit(105) are respectively inputted to an N channel image information processing unit(110) and an N channel audio information decoding unit(115). Image information outputted from the N channel image information processing unit is displayed on a screen(120) through an N channel image information display unit. A signal outputted from the N channel audio information decoding unit is divided into an audio signal of image information displayed on a main screen and a sub channel audio signal of the other N-1 sub channel audio signals.
