A method for right angled parking and a parking assist apparatus using same are provided to part the vehicles according to a collision evasion route after generating the route to recognize obstacles. A parking assist apparatus using the method for right angled parking includes an active steering unit(130), an electronic control driving unit(140) and an obstacle sensing unit(120), assists parking vehicles to parking space. The apparatus recognize the parking space using the obstacle sensing unit, calculates a collision evasion route and includes a main control unit(150) controlling the active steering unit and the electronic control driving unit.
