Direct flow shaft reactor comprises a vertical shaft body (10) for drying, heating and gasifying the material to be treated and having a feed opening (28) for introducing the material; a receiving body (20); a gas removing device (26) connected to the shaft body and/or the receiving body; and a gas feeding device (36) connected to the shaft body for introducing gas to the shaft and for drying the material.
