[Class 98 (ii)] An increase in the sensitivity of photographic emulsions in at least part of the sensitivity range conferred by a cyanine dye or a carbocyanine dye in which the heterocyclic nuclei are linked in their alpha positions by a trimethenyl chain is obtained by incorporation of a rion-sensitizing amino derivative of a heterocyclic nitrogen base. The cyanine dye contains at least one pyridine or quinoline nucleus. The amino derivatives comprise inter alia aminoquinolines and aminobenzthiazoles. Numerous examples of dyes, amino derivatives and combinations are given. Specifications 498,031, 498,289, 498,290 and 498,291 are referred to.
