BF3 PROMOTER PROCESS

A process for the recovery of BF3 from crude oligomerization reaction produc t mixture containing dissolved BF3 is described, the process being characterized by vaporization of BF3 from the crude oligomerization reaction product mixture in a vaporization zone at a temperature insufficient to decompose BF3 or any BF3-promoter complex in the mixture. BF3 from the vaporization zone is then contacted with a liquid olefin composition or liquid olefin composition and a promoter composition capable of forming a complex with BF3, in an absorption zone, forming a mixture comprising liquid olefin composition and BF3 and/or BF3-promoter complex. The mixture may be utilized directly for oligomerization of the liquid olefin.
