A rechargeable battery is provided to stably prevent the short circuit of a rechargeable battery and to stably fix a cap-plate to a case. A rechargeable battery(200) comprises an electrode group, cases(120, 220), cap assembly and spacer(150). The electrode group comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and negative electrode. The case contains an opening inserted with the electrode group and has a first thickness part and a second thickness part with smaller thickness than that of a first thickness part. The cap assembly is combined to the opening of the case and is connected to the electrode group. The spacer inserts the end of one-side of the case and has support protrusions which are fitted in the portion contacting the first thickness part and second thickness part. |
