The invention comprises a method of locating a vehicle, comprising: a) placi ng or installing a beacon device in the vehicle, the beacon device being capable o f short range wireless communication, according to preset parameters; b) a locator device detecting the presence of the beacon device via wireless communication technology ; c) the locator device establishing its initial location; d) the locator devi ce updating its current location for as long as the locator device remains in communication range of the beacon device; e) the locator device denoting the last updated location waypoint on the locator device upon the locator device ceasing to detect the existenc e of the beacon device (moving out of short range wireless communication range) as th e approximate location of the parked vehicle.
