摘要 <p>The method involves detecting a state of wheels of a motor vehicle using a state detecting unit. The longitudinal speed of the motor vehicle is estimated using a logic controller, from a value of the longitudinal acceleration provided by an accelerometer when the wheels slide. The speed of any non sliding wheels is estimated when the wheels do not slide. A value of the longitudinal speed is obtained by an integrator of a longitudinal speed estimating block (2) of the logic controller based on the integration of the longitudinal acceleration provided by the accelerator. An independent claim is also included for a device for estimating a longitudinal speed of a motor vehicle.</p>
