The adapter (7) has a passage for receiving a rigid wire of a safety pin, where the passage is a slit or a tunnel. A removable fixation unit i.e. snap fastener, fixes a removable decoration assembly on a thick and/or rigid surface of a protective helmet. The fixation unit has a cylindrical spigot (9) projected from a plate (8), where the plate is oriented along a plane (P1). The spigot has a head (12) whose outer diameter is slightly greater than that of a cylindrical base (11) of the spigot.
