PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet protective agent having excellent safety and UV protective effect, soluble in an aqueous solvent owing to its water solubility and usable without leaving a white residue and to provide an external preparation composition having similar actions and effects. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet protective agent contains either one or both of lactoferrin and lactoferrin derivatives. The external preparation composition contains the ultraviolet protective agent.
