PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which is easy to use saving the trouble of working to release a mount of a label formed from a printing tape which has a tape base material pasted releasably to the mount. SOLUTION: The printing tape with the tape base material pasted releasably to the mount is conveyed while held between a thermal head and a platen roller, and printing is carried out to the tape base material by the thermal head. The printing tape printed to the tape base material is further conveyed to a downstream side. The mount is released from the tape base material by a releasing part, and at the same time, a printed part of the tape base material is discharged from a tape base material discharge opening to the outside of a device body. On the other hand, the mount released from the tape base material is conveyed from a mount discharge opening to the outside of the device body while being held between the platen roller and a pinch roller. A cutter is provided on a downstream side of the thermal head and on an upstream side of the releasing part. The tape base material discharged from the tape base material discharge opening to the outside of the device body is hit against the cutter and cut, whereby the label without the mount is cut off.
