It is intended to provide a composition for preventing or treating liver disease including liver cancer, which has no adverse effect and is easily taken, and a food or food material having the composition blended therein. A special salt, sale de tierra, is used as an active ingredient of the composition for preventing or treating liver disease. The sale de tierra is obtained by bringing a naturally occurring ion exchanger such as zeolite (mordenite) into contact with an aqueous sodium salt solution, an aqueous potassium salt solution, an aqueous calcium salt solution, an aqueous magnesium salt solution, ammonia water, an aqueous ammonium salt solution, an aqueous inorganic acid solution, an aqueous organic acid solution, sea water, salt lake water or hot spring water to elute components contained in the naturally occurring ion exchanger through ion exchange and subsequently separating the eluate from the naturally occurring ion exchanger. Further, by blending the composition, the food or food material for preventing or treating liver disease is prepared. |
