PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle device which can exactly detect the getting-on and getting-off of a passenger, and can prevent the unpleasant feeling of the passenger caused by hearing the music different from the passenger's taste, and the difficulty, etc. of a driver for hearing the indication of the destination by the passenger. SOLUTION: When the door of a taxi is opened in the state that a taxi meter 24 is set to [Vacant/Reserved], the volume of the sound to be output from a speaker 22 in the vehicle becomes small. When the door of the vehicle is closed, the sound to be output from the speaker 22 in the vehicle becomes the state of a mute. When the taxi meter 24 is changed to [Fare], the sound source is changed to the radio broadcasting received by a tuner 17, and the volume of sound is changed to a required volume of sound. When the taximeter 24 is changed to [Payment], the sound to be output from the speaker 22 in the vehicle becomes the state of the mute. When the taxi meter 24 is changed to [Vacant/Reserved], the sound source is changed to the sound source which the driver likes, and is output from the speaker 22 in the vehicle with the required volume of sound.
