PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent faulty bookbinding due to set miss operation of sheet sizes when setting middle paper sheets jogged in a bundle shape and cover sheets bound to the middle paper sheets in respective trays. SOLUTION: (1) A sheet presence/absence sensors are arranged in a middle paper tray setting the middle paper sheets and a cover sheet tray setting the cover paper sheets respectively and the middle paper sheets are conveyed to a predetermined adhesive applying position when there are sheets in both trays, (2) the start-up of the device is stopped when predetermined case work is impossible from the detected information by arranging a sheet side detecting sensor or (3) the start up of the device is stopped when the predetermined case work is impossible from the detected information by arranging a sheet longitudinal and lateral size detecting sensor. Further, a lateral size detecting means for detecting the sheet sides mounted on the middle paper tray and the cover sheet paper tray are arranged and the control means is constituted so as to convey the middle paper sheets into the device from the middle paper tray when the predetermined case work is possible in the middle paper sheets and the cover paper sheets.
