The method involves implementing working movements during operation of a cutting tool i.e. saw chain, of a motor-driven hand machine tool i.e. motor chain saw. Machine movements e.g. accelerated sliding movements, of the hand machine tool, are directly or indirectly detected by an electrically operated sensor e.g. 3-axes-acceleration sensor, where machine movements endanger an operator. The working movements of the cutting tool are eliminated and/or reduced to a safe measure depending on the detected machine movements of the hand machine tool. An independent claim is also included for a motor-driven hand machine tool comprising a power source.
