<p>Techniques for evaluating the performance of two or more products in a market are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a method is presented which involves defining the market and identifying the two or more competing products which exist in the market. The number of unique product selection decisions made within the market is then determined. Then the number of unique product selection decisions made for each of the products within the market is determined. Finally, a performance metric is created by calculating the percentage of unique product selection decisions made for each of the products within the market in relation to the total number of unique product selection decisions made within the market.</p>
