<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which is superior in stability of light emission colors, and to provide an image display device and liquid crystal display using the same light emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is the light emitting device including a first light emitting element 102 emitting primary color having a wavelength in a near-ultraviolet range and a wavelength conversion unit including a plurality of phosphor particles emitting secondary light having a longer wavelength than the primary light. At least one among the phosphor particles emitting the secondary light is 2 to 20 in average value of aspect ratios. The image display device and liquid crystal display use the light emitting device.
