PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document reader capable of reading paper fingerprint information precisely and easily even when a fine dust, such as paper powder or dust, is adhered to a glass surface. SOLUTION: In the image reader capable of using a stationary document reading method and a document feed reading method, paper fingerprint is read by either of the systems. Then, a conveying means and a reading means are moved to re-read the paper fingerprint information in the same fingerprint sample region, and this operation is repeated until both sets of fingerprint information coincide.
