A capacitive proximity sensor (100) comprises a sensor portion (10) and a detection circuit portion (20). The sensor portion (10) includes a sensor electrode (11), a shield electrode (12), and an auxiliary electrode (13). The sensor electrode (11) is connected to a C-V conversion circuit (21) and the shield electrode (12) is connected to a shield driving circuit (24). The auxiliary electrode (13) is connected through a changeover switch (30) to the C-V conversion circuit (21) or the shield driving circuit (24). After being switched by the changeover switch (30), the C-V conversion circuit (21) detects capacitance values (C1, C2), which are compared with each other to arbitrarily set the range of the detection area of the sensor electrode (11). |
