PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting method and a setting program capable of efficiently returning to a setting value before change.

SOLUTION: An MFP comprises: setting screen display sections S01, S03 for displaying one of a plurality of setting screens defined in a hierarchy structure; setting sections S07, S07 for setting a received setting value by receiving the input of the setting value to a setting item included in the setting screen being displayed in the plurality of setting screens; a storage section S06 of the setting value before change for storing basic setting items and the setting value before change, when the setting value of a predetermined basic setting item is changed (Yes in S05); and a setting value change section S13 for changing the setting value after change set in the basic setting item to the setting value before change in storage, when a predetermined instruction is input before prescribed time passes after the setting item of the basic setting item is changed (Yes in S11).
