PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power tool for preventing the occurrence of a trouble in stopping a motor with an error in detecting that a hand is released from a trigger switch although it is not released. SOLUTION: The power tool comprises the motor 3, the trigger switch 8 for controlling the drive/stop of the motor 3 and the rotating speed thereof, and a control part 9 for determining the operation or not of the trigger switch 8 with ON/OF operation of a main contact 8b of the trigger switch 8 and for controlling the rotating speed of the motor 3 with a change of voltage supplied to the motor 3 in accordance with a signal responding to the amount of operation of the trigger switch 8 after operated. The control part 9 functions to stop the motor only in the case that a value for the signal from a speed contact 8a is a set value or smaller, when the main contact 8b is ON-operated with the operation of the trigger switch 8 to start the motor 3 in accordance with the signal from the speed contact 8a and then OFF operation of the main contact 8b is detected.
