摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a liquid crystal device of a preferable display quality with a high productivity without deterioration of an orientation film. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for a liquid crystal device having a vertical orientation film formed in a region including a display region P corresponding to a pixel electrode 9, and a horizontal orientation film 42 formed in a non-display region BM between the display regions P comprises a step of forming a resin film 42a to provide a horizontal orientation film 42 on the pixel electrode 9 side of a substrate 10A, a step of forming a protection layer 43 on the resin film 42a, a step of forming a resist pattern R in the horizontal orientation film 42 forming region on the protection layer 43, and partially removing the resin film 42a and the protection layer 43 in the area other than the forming region using the resist pattern R, a step of etching the resin layer 42a by covering the resist pattern R on the substrate 10A, a step of forming a resin layer 41a to provide a vertical orientation film 41 on the substrate 10A, a step of removing the resist pattern R, and a step of removing the protection layer 43.
