PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce and provide a polystyrene resin extruded foam using an existing apparatus, which is excellent in environmental acceptability, has good extrusion molding and skin quality, and is excellent in heat insulation property in low density. SOLUTION: The styrene resin extruded foam is produced without using a halogen compound as a foaming agent, wherein compressive strength Cv in the thickness direction, compressive strength Ch in the width direction, and compressive strength Cp in the length direction (extrusion direction) satisfy the relationship represented by 0.2≤Cv/(Cv+Ch+Cp)≤0.6 and at the time point 28 days after extrusion foaming, thermal conductivity is 0.028 W/m×K or less, as measured by the measurement method for insulating plates of class B specified in JIS A9511-1995.
