The method involves detecting surrounding of a vehicle by an image detection unit (2) arranged in the vehicle. Movement of the vehicle is detected by a movement detection unit (3). A point spreading function (PSF) is determined based on movement parameter (PARfzg) of the vehicle. Reconstruction of images (P) detected by the image detecting unit is executed based on the point spreading function. A position of roadway surface is determined from parameters (PARcam) of the image detecting unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating a vehicle.
