DISK MANAGEMENT METHOD, DISK MANAGEMENT DEVICE, AND DISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel disk managing technique for suppressing the number of seek operations on a disk during disk reproduction. SOLUTION: A list specifying recording areas for contents to be recorded onto the disk and a list specifying continuous free spaces in the disk are used to manage areas of the disk. When a new content is written onto the disk, the free space list is searched. If free spaces each having a sufficient size to store the whole data of the content are detected, a smallest free space is allocated as a content recording area. On the other hand, if no free space having a sufficient size is detected, the content data is divided, and free spaces are allocated as content recording areas in the descending order of size. According to this arrangement, the number of seek operations on the disk can be suppressed by reducing disk fragmentation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
