摘要 <p>To provide a sliding member, which can inhibit friction in a sliding position to thereby regulate the formation of a wear powder and can sustain sufficient mechanical characteristics in vivo; an artificial joint; and a method of producing the same. A sliding member comprising a base material (1) capable of forming hydroxyl groups and a biocompatible material layer (4) laminated at an appropriate part of the base material (1), wherein the base material (1) is provided with a surface-treatment layer (2) by forming hydroxyl groups through a surface-treatment at least at a required position, while the biocompatible material layer (4) is made of a polymer having phosphorylcholine groups, and the base material (1) is bonded to the biocompatible material layer (4) via an adhesive layer (3) made of silica which is capable of forming covalent bonds with the hydroxyl groups as described above as well as with the biocompatible material as described above.</p>
