<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption without causing image quality degradation. <P>SOLUTION: A dummy pixel circuit is provided for detecting a voltage between an anode and a cathode outside of a display area of a display panel, and the dummy pixel circuit is always made emit light with a maximum grayscale value in the frame, and thereby, both voltages of an organic electroluminescence (EL) elements of a pixel located in the display area, which emit light with the maximum grayscale value, are detected by utilizing the dummy pixel circuit. The voltage between the anode and the cathode, which is detected from the dummy pixel circuit reflects a temperature state of the organic EL element at that time, and also, deterioration in IV characteristic is expressed to some extent. Unnecessary power consumption is correctly and securely reduced, by controlling to reduce a power supply voltage for light emitting driving, based on the voltage between the anode and the cathode, which is detected from the dummy pixel circuit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
