<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption in a core node existing on a packet transmission line, without increasing the transmission delay of real-time packets, in a backbone network. <P>SOLUTION: Each edge node periodically measures a packet transmission rate, with respect to a line shared with the core node; and when the packet transmission rate becomes lower than 50%, the edge node multiplexes a packet scheduled to be transmitted to the core node and then transmits the packet, to thereby reduce packet-by-packet transfer opportunities in the core node, and power consumption for packet transfer is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
