PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively manufacturing a large-area grid polarizing film with high productivity. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of grid polarizing film comprises processes of partially protecting a surface of a diamond material with an etching resistant material; plasma-etching the partially protected diamond material to form projections 600 nm or less in width to thereby obtain a cutting tool; forming a fine grid shape in a mold member using the cutting tool to thereby obtain a mold; transferring the grid shape to a transparent resin molded product by use of the mold; and forming a metal grid layer on the transparent resin molded product to which the grid shape is transferred.
