PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fast reactor which controls the reactivity of nuclear fuel to a low value, by eliminating the coolant that has been present between a core and reflectors, to reduce the neutron reflection to the core in the region where the reflectors move and also has high resistance with respect to the temperature environment around the core. SOLUTION: In the fast reactor having a reflector control system which controls the reactivity of the core 2, by regulating the leakage of neutrons from the core 2 through the vertical movement of the reflectors 4 placed outside the core 2 immersed in a primary coolant 30, the core 2 located in the region where the reflectors 4 move is surrounded by a substance that has a neutron reflexibility lower than that of the primary coolant 30.
