METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FACILITATING TRACK-BASED SERVER-SIDE STREAMING PLAYLIST FUNCTIONALITY

A server is configured for receiving media element configuration information including a media element track identifier associated with a first track of a playlist and a media element track identifier associated with a second track of the playlist. Receiving the media element configuration information is performed by a server capable of streaming media content. The server is further configured for concurrently streaming at least a portion of media element sources corresponding to respective media element track identifiers associated with respective tracks in a single streaming session. The streaming is carried out in accordance with commands issued by server-side streaming playlist functionality of a server capable of streaming media content. The media element sources corresponding to the first track and the media element source corresponding to the second track are different sources.
