The monochord has a piano keyboard comprising octaves at edges of the keyboard, and designed as a chromatic fingerboard or a neutral arm keyboard. The piano keyboard stays in an effective connection with a string (3), and side edges of a positioning device (23) are attached to a position surface (15) of a front outer web or a rear outer web. The positioning device is positioned below the string, and rests at a front longitudinal side of a sound board in a guide rail. The device and a set bar (4) are positioned below the string according to measures of gradation on the device.
