The method involves piezoelectrically converting lost propellant-energy into massive directed electromagnetic pulse (EMP) emissions by arc discharge. Normal components of the produced emissions are calculated parallel to a bore axis of a barrel weapon system e.g. large diameter gun. A propagation direction of the emissions is produced by reflectors, resonators and isolators. Piezoelectric high voltage devices (2) are installed based on sound absorbing principles of a barrel weapon and/or formed of electroactive polymers e.g. dielectric elastomer, with elastic material property. An independent claim is also included for a device comprising a polarized piezo element.
