<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and composition that generally relates to the use of a molecular probe for the selective staining of a microorganism or cell, in combination with the selective capture of the microorganism or cell with the use of binding partners, with respect to the field of mixed probe-based and binding partner-based detection, analysis and/or quantitation of microorganisms and/or cells. <P>SOLUTION: The method and composition can be used for sorting and/or determining target microorganisms (singular or plural in number). When sorting is to be selected, the sorting can be performed, for example, either by the use of coded beaded supports or by the use of an array. Since selectivity can affect two very different levels of molecular recognition, the method and composition of the invention realize enhancement in the discriminability of an assay and/or the enhancement of the certainty of results. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
