PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct image data picked up by defective pixels according to the change point of a pattern. SOLUTION: An edge detection and pattern calculation section 1 detects the edges in the vertical direction, horizontal direction and oblique direction, and an image pattern having edges in each of the vertical, horizontal and oblique blocks of a pixel on the outside of a defective pixel of an image sensor, and an image pattern operating section 2 and an interpolation pixel operating section 3 select data for interpolating the defective pixel from one of the data of a plurality of pixels around the defective pixel based on the position, edge and image pattern of the defective pixel.
